You read about the new tech startup that just received a $2 million funding from angel investors in Entrepreneur magazine. Another article reports a 2nd round of financing of $20 million even though the company was losing money all last year. All these sound sexy, creates hype, and sells magazines but what about the rest of the majority of us involved in small businesses? I won’t focus on sexy tech startups and the like because you can already get a ton of information online. I’m  focusing on the you and me small business industry, where we don’t have an idea for the next iPhone or disruptive technology, a category killer to potentially make billions. This is a website for those wanting to start out on their own and make a living not the next Facebook.Small businesses are the ones who contribute half of a country’s GDP, the importers/exporters, household distributors, Ecommerce businesses, home businesses, pizza deliveries, restaurants, boutique consulting firms, and most businesses with less than 20 employees. In the US, companies with less than 20 employees form 90% of the total.

Business Startup Wisdom is about practical, real life, solid advice about Entrepreneurship, business startups, and exit strategies. You will find comprehensive information on how to start a business, how to run a business, and how to exit a business. The blog, articles, and eBooks here are built upon my background from business school and based on my decade long (and on-going) entrepreneurial career. I want to make sure that those of you that didn’t study business can gain the relevant knowledge to help you along the way when you’re starting your own business. Many things that you learn here will range from basic to advanced business topics like starting up, business development plans, sales & marketing, accounting, budgeting, and much more. What makes this site different? I will always input my own experiences, successes, and mistakes to keep it relevant and real. Learning from someone’s success and failure can save you thousands! Instead of giving you only generic, shallow depth articles that you can find anywhere else on the web, I aim to be more in depth and specific about the small business issues I write about. I will often give advice and tips that they don’t teach in business school that I learned only through actual business experience.

With this site, I will try my best to give you practical advice often with actionable strategies, not high level theoretical concepts which leave you still lost.

I love new startups and the excitement of going through the process of starting a new business. With this site, I hope to share this passion and help you get to where you want faster, possibly saving you thousands of dollars (maybe more) in startup wastage along the way.

Remember, what they say is true. Knowledge is indeed power.

All the best in your ventures!
